The History of Know MediaKnow Media, a community-based coalition of educators, youth, activists and agency staff, formed in response to a growing concern about the negative and often unhealthy impact of media on our youth and community. Created in the spring of 2001, Know Media works in Windham County, Vermont to encourage a greater understanding of the impact that media has on our lives. We also work to develop local capacity for education and activism around media-related issues. Our focus exposes the influence of media on such things as substance use/abuse, body image and other health-related issues, brain development, violence, environmental concerns, free speech and democracy.
